Message/Meaning

Australia and New Zealand, fearing Japanese military resurgence and recognising that Britain could not defend them, forged a new military alliance with the United States. The ANZUS pact was signed in 1951 and was welcomed by the US as a bulwark against communism. This cartoon satirises the refusal to allow Britain to be an observer at a 1952 ANZUS council meeting, highlighting the weakening of defence ties between Britain and its two Pacific dominions.

My 2025 Goals As Yr 11

This year, I’m looking forward to a complete academic comeback. I know I’ve probably told myself this many times during my year at Hornby High School, but this year, I am taking it seriously, as Year 11 is a big year for me.

Last year I was very distracted talking to my friends most of the time and not getting much work but this year the board has made it so that our classes are very different compared to our friends so its better as It will be better to concentrate and do your work.

This year, I selected PE, Outdoor Education (I might switch from it), and History. I’m trying my hardest to be dedicated to these options.

By the end of the year I wanna achieve my credits so I do not have to worry about them soon.

Y13 Shaheen

Dear year 13 Shaheen Falcon Feroz, you may or may not see this depending on whether you still attend the school, but I do hope you are here to continue your studies.

I hope you achieved the majority or all the things you wished for in year 10 to three years later.

I hope your dedication to engineering still stays and I hope to see you study in the future for a great engineering job. During year 13 leavers I hope to see you with an incredible masculine body physique.

I know you always liked cricket and your biggest dream was to be in the first XI of the black caps, I hope if engineering doesn’t quite work I really hope you succeed in cricket and make Mum and Dad happy.

I know you were terrible at maths, I’m hoping by year 13 you at least know your timetables.

WSM WSM stands for “Western Scientific Medicine”, It is casually seen as a philosophy that is connected with a systematic approach known as “Technocentric”, which is a system that’s centered around technology and has the power to control and protect our environment.

CAM CAM stands for “Complementary and alternative medicine” and has 5 medical practices/categories.

CAM is a medical care that is not the main term of standard medical care, people who are diagnosed with cancer use CAM to help them with their stress levels, help with the side effects cancer has to offer, and try to cure cancer.

Asthma is a medical condition that affects the lungs and affects people of all ages.

Asthma affects people’s stamina and makes it hard for them to cope with running, or just in general exercises. Asthma also pays a visit during the night when the symptom gets worse.

Asthma mostly occurs when one with asthma is breathing in hot air which can trigger it causing the airways to become narrow and tighten.

Asthma has a few treatments to make it better but it doesn’t have an actual cure to heal or remove it, 3 different treatments that people use to make their asthma better are, Inhalers, Theophylline, and Antileukotriene which are medicine devices to help people with asthma cope with it.

Inhalers are known as Western Society Medicine as well as Antileukotriene.

Climate change

Climate change

  1. What is climate change?

Climate change refers to the long-term effects of temperatures and weather patterns.

  1. What is causing climate change?

Climate change is caused by many different causes,  generating a mass of electricity and heat, and burning fossil fuels develops giant chunks of global radiation.

Most electricity is generated by burning oil, gas, or coal, these basically produce something called Carbon Dioxide and Nitrous oxide. Carbon Dioxide is a clear gas that has one atom of Carbon and two atoms of Oxygen.

A main cause that participates in climate change is cutting down forests. Trees have carbons that have been stored inside of them and when it’s cut it releases it. An estimated 12 million forest trees are destroyed yearly. When trees absorb these carbon dioxides basically destroying it also limits it nature’s ability.

  1. Why do ākonga (students) throughout Aotearoa and globally want to go on strike from school and protest?

To basically tell New Zealand politicians to take climate change more seriously and treat it for what it is.

Students feel like the leaders aren’t doing enough, they’re worried about the future of Aotearoa. Students are also worried about rising sea levels, extreme weather, and the planet’s health.

By students striking they’re basically trying to show New Zealand politicians that climate is urgent and needs immediate action.

Legend Walking Corpse Syndrome – Sf

Walking Corpse Syndrome

– For today’s lesson we will be learning about Walking Corpse Syndrome, which is a mental disorder when someone believes that part of their body is basically missing, or they are dying so that’s pretty much why the name makes sense with the mental disorder.

Walking Corpse Syndrome affects Taha Hinengaro’s Mental well-being.

Haley Smith spent three years thinking she was dead from Walking Corpse Syndrome, just at the age of 17 she suffered from ultra-rare symptoms of Cotard’s Syndrome.

Haley Smith sought help from a therapist and managed to cure her mental disorder, she quoted “She also credits Disney films with her recovery as they made her feel alive

Questions I have:

  1. This mental disorder makes sense but it’s hard to comprehend as it says that the person basically can’t cop that they are alive or they are missing a part of their body, I’ve seen studies where they feel like they are missing an organ in their body. I would have a more clear understanding of it if there were studies where they elaborated on this disorder.
  2. How do people with Walking Corpse Syndrome feel?
  3. How do they act with it?

Answers:

  1. A site that should elaborate on Cotard Syndrome
  2. Depression, social isolation, and anxiety.
  3. Most people with Cotards Syndrome act anxious, suicidal thoughts, pain, and the existence of their body.

Fact:

Cotard was first found in 1882 by Dr. Jules Cotard.

Holidays Term 4

My holiday was casual, I mostly went biking and headed to the gym.

I ate a lot and we had many family guests over.

I competed in a football tournament with Jenish and it was the highlight of my holiday, I really enjoyed it and it made me satisfied with my holiday.

I didn’t catch up with other family members during the holiday but hoped to do so during Christmas.

This term I’ll try my hardest for an academic comeback, I will try my hardest to succeed in my classes develop better humour and try to mature so that in the future I have good job selections.
